Caption (a poem)

The TV buzzed while the voices mute.

Understanding every other word.

Black bar.

White text.

I hide under the table, ears ajar.

I can still hear you yelling at her.

Understanding every other word.

Black eye.

Pale face.

Eyes ajar, I’ll never watch cartoons the same.
